Collection: Bare Root Tree Peonies – Autumn Planting Offer 🌸
Nothing adds elegance to the garden quite like a Tree Peony. These long-lived shrubs are renowned for their spectacular, dinner-plate sized flowers and graceful form. At Bloomfield, we’re delighted to offer bare root tree peonies, the best value and healthiest way to plant.
Why Bare Root?
Perfect for Autumn Planting – Putting your peony in the ground while it’s dormant allows the roots to establish over winter. By spring, your plant wakes up strong and ready to flourish.
Better Value – Bare roots are more affordable than potted plants, yet they grow on just as beautifully.
Healthier Growth – Bare roots adapt quickly to your soil and often outpace container-grown plants in the long term.
How to Plant & Care
-
Timing: Plant from October to March, when the soil isn’t frozen or waterlogged.
-
Position: Choose a sunny to lightly shaded spot with well-drained, fertile soil.
-
Planting Depth: Ensure the crown (where the stem meets the roots) sits about 5–8cm below soil level.
-
Aftercare: Water well after planting. Keep the soil moist but not soggy during the first year. Tree peonies are hardy and low maintenance once established.
-
Feeding: A slow-release fertiliser or a mulch of well-rotted compost in spring will encourage strong flowering.
